Misc: Yes, I'm Still Alive. No, I Haven't Quit. Yes, We Have No Banannas.
Just a quick update. My day job is still shoving the rest of my free time aside, so those of you waiting for me to update again are going to have to wait a little longer. By "little" I mean "an unspecified amount of time." I find it incredibly frustrating, because I was just starting to get into a publication rhythm when my day job grabbed me by the neck and started shoving me repeatedly against the wall.
I am managing to get a few things done, they're just not comics.
First: I have finally fixed my site so that it can send email. This means that those of you who tried to set up accounts only to learn that you never got your registration email can try again, and it ought to work this time. This also means that when you click the "Contact Us" link at the top of the site it will take you to a nifty web form that will email directly to me. I know it works because I'm getting spam off it.
Second: I've been trying to work in a few modifications to my site to make it easier to use, and I'm running into problems because theming in Drupal is a pain in the ass. I'm considering switching to a template that uses the 960 Grid System because it's supposed to be very easy to prototype sites on it. I'm a bit leery of it because it uses fixed width designs, which sort of runs contrary to my basic design philosophy for web sites, but my basic design philosophy is a pain in the ass to work out so I'm seriously considering kicking it to the curb. Hey, I publish a clipart comic -- design purity has never been my strong suit.
Third: I have another project I'm working on that I'll be talking about in more detail at some point in the future. But I'm not talking about it now, I'm just talking about talking about it.
Fourth: These days I'm very tired and a little cranky, so forgive any general snappishness that may be evident over the next few months.
Fifth: My schedule should be clearing up around mid to late July, or early August. Publication will be sporadic until then, unless I develop a superpower that allows me to exist without sleep before then.
Sixth: Yes, there will be more Kernel Panic comics. And PCtown, and Old Skool Webcomics.
Seventh: Nothing to say here, I just wanted to get to seven.

Life is what happens while you were making other plans
Carry on. Come back when you can.
Be sure to drop occasional cryptic references to things that you aren't talking about yet....
Bananas--Hey, OT
When I was in college, my school called CPU time "bananas" and you were only alloted a certain amount per term. If you had no bananas, you couldn't do any work online.
So hey, "yes, we have no bananas" is a perfectly valid reason to not get work done.
There is only one response to "yes, we have no bananas."
"Harry, it sucks."
No rush
Good to know you are still around, hopefully the stress and busyness will let up for you soon. Don’t worry about us, we will be here when your other stuff slows down so no need to burn out on our account. Also remember to relax every now and then, even if you do not seem to have the free time to do so it really helps.
CPU allotment schemes...
My college used dollars for the same purpose on an IBM mainframe running a not-widely-used timesharing system1. I remember one class where the professor had set the overspend limit to $0, which actually meant unlimited. So, of course, someone (definitely not me) discovered that if you overspent by an absolutely ridiculous amount of money (I think hundreds of thousands of "dollars"), you could roll over the counter back to positive.

GPL
have kernel panic go open source.. Give us the templates and we will ad lib a community driven comic. Don't be a microslob, or the one with a white fruit as a logo. ( i dare not say the second company's name in fear that I will not be able to be cool ever again because they will ban me from buying their overpriced gear).
Tenacity.
This comic displays an incredible tenacity. I'm actually rather impressed.
KP? Suspect not -- perhaps Old Skool Webcomic
It would be much eaiser to make Old Skool Webcomic go open source. Heck -- I'm sure people have plenty of ideas with that that Chris would be happy to steal, er, use....
