Site news: Hashcash Disabled, Again

The new version of Hashcash has the same problem the old version had: it still prevents people from posting even if they have Javascript enabled. It doesn't seem to do that all the time, but it does it enough. Hashcash is once again disabled, you should be able to post freely, and I'll be handling the Spam the old fashioned way.

The Hashcash Drupal module was updated to fix a bug that may have been preventing everyone from posting. Please, if you have a moment, try to leave a comment here. Remember that in order to post to the site when Hashcash is enabled, you must have Javascript enabled in your browser.

Misc: I'm Not Dead -- Just Really, Really Busy

I know, I know. I have a storyline to wrap up and a lot of other things to do with the site. Unfortunately my paying gig has been in "crunch time" for the last month and a half and the last week or two in particular has been very demanding of my time and energy, so pretty much everything else has fallen by the wayside.

But I am planning a rally and return. Maybe as soon as tomorrow. I'm just trying to get my jellified brain to coalesce into something that resembles the semifirm grey matter it used to be. Also, in a semi-related announcement, this November it will once again be time for National Novel Writing Month.

Site News: Hashcash Disabled

I've been using a Drupal module called Hashcash to thwart blog-spammers. It requires users who want to post to the site turn on javascript, but it did the trick -- since I turned it on, there has been absolutely no blog spam infesting my site.

Unfortunately, after updating to the latest version the other day I received a report from one of the regulars that it was blocking his attempts to post as well. I've disabled it until I can figure out how to work around the problem.

This means we may be getting an increase in drive-by spamming...
