Site News: Today's Punchline is Hauntingly Familiar
One of the things that worries me most after doing 14 years of a mostly-gag-a-day comic is that I'll start repeating myself. Today I'm pretty sure I did -- looking at it this morning I'm convinced I've used this exact punchline somewhere in the past.
Sorry about that. It was going to happen sooner or later.
Site News: The Very Long Day Results In A Delay
I went into work yesterday and I haven't come home yet. This means no comic today.
However, I really hate the thought of ending a three week streak like that so I'm going to try to put one up on Saturday to balance everything out.
Misc: Threatening Fan Mail
On Saturday I received an email that I just have to share with the rest of you:
I wrote a small shell script just to annoy you about kernel panic. It will schedule random emails with random nagging comments to write more kernel panic, it will also send them at complete random times with the only thing specified is how many times I want to bug you, but even then it will pick a number between 1 and the number I give it and that's how many times it will bug you. So kind of the shell and kernel bugging you about kernel panic I am just merely suggesting what thoughts it should say and give it a ceiling number.
DONT MAKE ME PUT IT ON MY CRON, I can't seem to work out the bug that it will only email you during business hours.
Sheesh. :D
While threats that appeal to my sense of creativity and whimsy do in fact work, the other option is to send me lots and lots of money through PayPal. I'm not saying I can be bribed, I'm just saying "lots and lots of money through PayPal" because saying it makes me smile.
Misc: The Sudden and Unexpected Return of Eviscerati.org
I hadn't intended to resurrect the site just yet, but it was sadly necessary to update Eviscerati.org today with a very special Open Letter to Apple. Thanks to @jonrosenberg on Twitter for pointing out Apple's latest descent into abject stupidity.
Site News: Congratulations Howard Tayler -- Schlock Mercenary Nominated for Hugo Award
I should have posted this earlier, but I'm running behind on everything. I'm tagging this "Site News" because I consider it worth putting into the RSS Feed.
Howard Tayler, creator of my favorite Science Fiction webcomic Schlock Mercenary, has been nominated for a Hugo Award under the category "Best Graphic Story." I was a fan of the comic since I first saw it back in our Keenspot days, and I'm a particular fan of the story arc that got him nominated, The Longshoreman of the Apocalypse.
Congratulations, Howard, on a well-deserved nomination! Those of you who have never read Schlock Mercenary should head on over there and check it out for the first time. Those of you who already follow it, join me in congratulating him.
He will apparently be saving up for a trip to Australia in order to attend the awards in person, so while you're at it buy some of his stuff.
