Disagreeing With The Diagnosis

Comic Transcript

ALEX: You look grumpy.

KING: I am, a little. If I hold my iPhone 4 it interferes with the antenna. I've been calling the Apple Help Desk all day to try to resolve the issue, but all they do is insinuate that I'm not cool enough for the phone to work.

(Silence.)

ALEX: That bothers you more than the broken phone, doesn't it.

KING: I am plenty cool!

Apple slips up...

Chris, you are really enjoying this, aren't you?

I have to agree that this ranks with the round mouse for the iMac as far as classic goofs.
Imagine the personnel department at Apple as they recruit left-handed people for the R&D/Testing Department...

I'm wondering...

I'm wondering if Apple really is trying to blame their users or if that's just comic license for the story. I can't trust my hunches here. I've been wrong before. One thing that sticks out is that I thought the Ubersoft open source support site was completely invented to supply a plot device -- until I found the actual basis.

As far as I know...

... Apple has not attempted to tie the antennae problems with the coolness of the customer.

Yet. :)

I guess it's a good thing...

... that I haven't bought an iPhone. For some reason I naturally produce a static field which is well known to disrupt regular antennas (eg. TV) that I get too close to. Although it doesn't seem to bother my current cellphone much.

(And I've never given an ESD shock to any electronic components, as far as I'm aware.)
