The Grand Unveiling

Help Desk, by Christopher B. Wright

Comic Transcript

ALICE: For years we've suffered loss after loss from Google. These days their name is synonymous with the Internet -- it's almost as commonplace "web." We needed to find a name for our product that challenged that dominance head on.

ALICE: Let me introduce you to the new name of Ubersoft's online search engine... a name that will once again make us the dominant force on the Internet.

ALICE: Gentlemen, I present to you "Ubersoft Doink."

(Silence.)

ALICE: You know, when I say it out loud --

KING: No, I really think you're on to something here.

But what does Doink stand for?

Sorry, but I think that Microsoft came up with the funnier name than Ubersoft did this time. After all, BING could be a recursive acronym in the best tradition of the FSF: Bing Is Not Google.

Why you...why I oughtta...

actually I think I will. I'm going to sue you! I fell out of my chair and it's all your fault.

BING - Doink

BING stands for But It's No Good... A true Ubersoft Acronym. I honestly thought of Chris and Ubersoft when I first heard it :-)

Bing

I like But It's Not Google.
