Shades Of Off-Black

Help Desk, by Christopher B. Wright

Comic Transcript

SCOTT: Look, Jake, I know that Google isn't a perfect company by any means -- but you have to keep in mind that compared to most of the computer industry, it's practically a saint.

SCOTT: Sure, we have a reputation for revealing the identities of political dissidents in oppressive countries... but we do so because we're complying with the law of the land where we do business. Would you rather Google be a company that doesn't feel the need to obey the law?

JAKE SLADE: Well... no.

SCOTT: When people call Google customer support, we actually help them. When people report bugs, we actually fix them. We may not be the classic definition of "good" but we are definitely better than most.

(Silence.)

SCOTT: Besides, if you actually bring us down you'll probably lose your Gmail account.

JAKE SLADE: My work here is done.
