ALICE: We don't WANT our old sound cards to work with our new operating system.

AUDIOMOD517: Why not?

ALICE: Because we want people to buy the new sound cards that DO work with our new operating system.

AUDIOMOD517: But your new sound cards are almost identical to your old sound cards!

ALICE: There is one very important difference.

AUDIOMOD517: What difference?

ALICE: Our new sound cards work with our new operating system.

...is that the new sound card contains Circular Logic, which of course is patented by you-know-who.

Nifty Doorways Verandah utilizes only the latest and newest Circular Logic soundcards... older ones won't work at all :)
