CUSTOMER: I don't need someone telling me that this update is "nothing to worry about." When I configure my machine to reject all updates unless I authorize them personally, I expect it to do just that!

PHIL: That's exactly what it is doing, sir.

PHIL: The patches we installed on your computer were not part of the official patching system. They were patches to the patching system itself. We haven't modified your operating system, we've simply made it possible for you to update your operating system in the future, should you so choose, by keeping the patching files up to date.

CUSTOMER: So can I disable that?

PHIL: Yes, you can tell the patching system that patches the patching system not to install any patches.

CUSTOMER: Good.

PHIL: Of course, we can still patch the patching system that patches the patching system's patching system.

CUSTOMER: ...well can I disable THAT?

PHIL: Yes, but you'd still have to worry about the patching system's patching system's patching system's patching system.

CUSTOMER: Well can I --

PHIL: It's pretty much patching systems all the way down.
