SCOTT: Hey Alex, I think we might have a problem.

ALEX: Do tell.

SCOTT: Well, I decided to give my mom a call this morning... and when I picked up the phone, there was already someone on the other line. A very irate customer who was on his sixth attempt to get through to the help desk.

SCOTT: He claimed he'd been hung up on after the eighth ring each time.

ALEX: But we haven't had any ringing phones for a week now.

SCOTT: That's what I told him. He claimed the phone had rung six times before I picked it up. I didn't hear it ring once.

ALEX: Hmmm... That is strange.

SCOTT: So what are we going to do about this?

ALEX: I'm guessing "just don't use the phone" is NOT the response that will make you go away.
